The Love that Sees in the Dark

The ancient story is told of a rabbi who gathered all his students together very early in the morning while it was still dark. He told them to pay attention because he had a very important question to ask them. The question was this: how could they tell when night had ended and the day was on its way back.
One student answered: “Could it be when you see an animal and can tell whether it is a sheep or a dog?”
“No,” answered the rabbi.
Another student said: “Could it be when you look at a tree in the distance and can tell whether it is a fig tree or a Peach tree?”
“No,” answered the rabbi.
After a few more guesses the students demanded: “Well, then, what is it?”

What is it? It’s a special opportunity for you to pray for vocations, You are given a Chalice for two weeks, along with specific prayers. Place it in a prominent place in your home. It’s a wonderful visual as you pray. You don’t need a group of people. Your prayers are needed to ask God to grant us more priest, religious and lay ministers.
REMEMBER: NO PRIEST - NO EUCHARIST
You will be presented the Chalice at the end of Mass or in private. If you are not able to get to church, it can be taken to you. Call Rachel Ruby at 623-972-1051. She will call you back to answer questions or to schedule you to receie the Chalice.

At St. Elizabeth Seton, we are expanding the ways we evangelize. Our Live Stream Mass is now available on our website. If you are unable to attend Mass in person, we invite you to visit sescc.org to encounter the Mass.
You are now able to access the latest homilies from our talented and inspiring team of clergy via our podcast. Whether you are on the go in the busyness of your daily tasks, or relaxing at home, we invite you to take some time to listen to our podcast. We are sure you will be refreshed.
WIDOWED? SINGLE BY CHOICE?
We are the SOLO GROUP, and we enjoy getting together at breakfast club, dinners, luncheons, book clubs and the theater. You do not have to be alone. Our monthly meeting covers a calendar of events. We meet the first Tuesday of each month, at the Palmbrook Golf Club at 12PM. Our lunch meeting is also a social time. There are no fees or obligations. The Palmbrook is on Greenway Blvd. in Sun City. This week on Word and Art, where Bishop John Dolan connects a Sunday reading with a famous work of art, Bishop John delves into a fresco painted by Fra Angelico and reflects on Christ’s resurrection in a garden on Easter Sunday — a total restoration of the fall that took place in the original garden of Eden.
Bishop John brings an exciting and insightful perspective to the series as he earned a Master of Arts degree in Liturgy/Church Art and Architecture from St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park, Calif.
