Diocese of Phoenix mourns the loss of Pope Francis
“With deep sorrow, yet with enduring hope in the Resurrection, we mourn the passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. A shepherd to the world, he was a man who listened—truly listened—not only to the faithful within the Church but to people of all faiths and goodwill. He reminded us that even those without faith in God could offer their kind thoughts, and he humbly welcomed them.
“Pope Francis was a man of accompaniment, walking alongside the poor, the marginalized, migrants, refugees, and the displaced. His heart was always with those on the peripheries, and he tirelessly advocated for their dignity and rights. His most recent Synod on Synodality provided a roadmap for the Church’s future, one rooted in encounter and listening. ‘Todos, todos, todos,’ he would say—everyone belongs in the conversation, for the Church is the home of all.

The Crown Of Easter Celebration: Mercy

As an Easter people, the Alleluia mandate is one that we are still excited about. While the busiest week in the Church’s liturgical calendar has come and gone, the Second Sunday of Easter which is also referred to as Divine Mercy Sunday points to the unfathomable mercies of God. I would like to reflect on the theme: Mercy as the crown of Easter celebration.” My reflection urges us to be disciples of God’s mercies even as we proclaim the resurrection by being ambassadors of mercy and peace.
The Divine Mercy devotion resulted from the private revelations of Jesus given to Saint Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun in the early twentieth century. Among the messages received by Saint Faustina was our Lord’s request for a feast devoted to His Mercy on the second Sunday of Easter. When Saint Pope John Paul II canonized Saint Faustina in 2000, he fulfilled this request by declaring second Sunday of Easter would henceforth be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.

It’s a wonderful visual as you pray. You don’t need a group of people. Your prayers are needed to ask God to grant us more priest, religious and lay ministers.

You will be presented the Chalice at the end of Mass or in private. If you are not able to get to church, it can be taken to you. Call Rachel Ruby at 623-972-1051. She will call you back to answer questions or to schedule you to receie the Chalice.

We are the SOLO GROUP, and we enjoy getting together at breakfast club, dinners, luncheons, book clubs and the theater. You do not have to be alone. Our monthly meeting covers a calendar of events.
