The prospect of saying farewell to some people can become the only pleasure of a long, boring evening. Saying farewell to those we love, on the other hand, is often postponed for as long as possible. This is true for closely knit families who will have to say farewell to someone embarking on a long journey, say, seeing a beloved who has just been redeployed to some distant country. On the flip side too, I see this every time I have the honor of administering the Sacrament of the Sick to a dying person. It’s tough saying those good byes.
It’s a fact of life that in the presence of some people our whole life is enhanced, while in the presence of others we pray for wings! When the time comes to let go of those we love we always find it difficult. That is all the more true when someone we love is dying. We mourn for the dying, and we wonder how we will cope in the future without them. We hope they will stay on because we are afraid that our world will collapse around us.

This is a five-day program for kindergarteners to 6th grade, beginning Monday, July 14th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. We have a lot of fun with Games, Bible Study, Music, Skits, Arts and Crafts and Snacks that go with the theme of each day. For more information please contact Dcn. St. Elizabeth Seton is introducing a free will-writing tool, sponsored by the Diocese of Phoenix, so all parishioners can create a will for free and support the people and ministries close to their heart.

St. Elizabeth Seton Coordinator of Communications Michelle Harvey recently traveled to Italy on a pilgrimage with St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Fr. Greg Menegay was the spiritual leader for the trip which included stops in Rome, Assisi, San Giovanni Rotundo, Monte Cassino, Orvieto, Monte St. Michel and Loreto among others. For three young men, this weekend marks one step closer to the priesthood! This Sunday at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral in Phoenix, Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo Nevares will ordain Simon Ortiz and Jeff Pooley as transitional deacons at the 9 a.m. Mass. On Saturday, Bishop John Dolan will ordain Br. Paul Graupman at St. Anthony Mission in Sacaton, Ariz. Let's keep them in our prayers! Also, shout out to all students who are graduating during this season. Congratulations!

Legion of Mary, A Lay Apostolate, to begin at
St. Elizabeth Seton
The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of All Graces, serve the Church and their neighbour on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. With the approval and support of the Popes and a great many Bishops, Priests and Religious, as well as the prayers and efforts of legionaries, the Legion, by the grace of God, has grown into a worldwide organization with several million members.
The first meeting will be Thursday, July 3 at 10:30am in the Mt. Carmel Room.
What is it? It’s a special opportunity for you to pray for vocations, You are given a Chalice for two weeks, along with specific prayers. Place it in a prominent place in your home. It’s a wonderful visual as you pray. You don’t need a group of people. Your prayers are needed to ask God to grant us more priest, religious and lay ministers.
REMEMBER: NO PRIEST - NO EUCHARIST
You will be presented the Chalice at the end of Mass or in private. If you are not able to get to church, it can be taken to you. Call Rachel Ruby at 623-972-1051. She will call you back to answer questions or to schedule you to receie the Chalice.

Bishop John brings an exciting and insightful perspective to the series as he earned a Master of Arts degree in Liturgy/Church Art and Architecture from St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park, Calif.
