The Gospel readings at our Sunday Mass follow a three-year cycle (A-Gospel of Matthew, B-Gospel of Mark, C-Gospel of Luke). We are currently in year C. Luke is the author of both our Gospel today and the Acts of the Apostles, the book that immediately follows the Gospels in the bible. So two of the readings for the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ come from Luke. We conclude his Gospel and begin his Acts of the Apostles.
In a very real sense, the Ascension is a transition, the conclusion of Jesus’ life on earth and the beginning of the mission of the Church. On the Mount of Olives, the disciples experienced the departure of the Lord. For forty days since Easter, Jesus had been appearing to his disciples in various ways and times, proving that He was alive. But what now?

This is a five-day program for kindergarteners to 6th grade, beginning Monday, July 14th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. We have a lot of fun with Games, Bible Study, Music, Skits, Arts and Crafts and Snacks that go with the theme of each day. For more information please contact Dcn. Three men ordained transitional deacons for the Diocese of Phoenix
Br. Paul Graupmann, Jeff Pooley and Simon Ortiz came one step closer to the priesthood this past weekend. Pooley and Ortiz celebrated their Transitional Diaconate Ordination before a standing room only crowd at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral in Phoenix on Sunday. Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo Nevares presided over the Mass, and he was joined by more than two dozen priests and deacons from across the Diocese of Phoenix.
Br. Paul Graupmann’s Transitional Diaconate Ordination was celebrated by Bishop John Dolan on May 24 at St. Anthony Mission in Sacaton, Ariz., and was a summation of the profound surrender these three men have embodied within their vocations.

Legion of Mary, A Lay Apostolate, to begin at
St. Elizabeth Seton
The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of All Graces, serve the Church and their neighbour on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. With the approval and support of the Popes and a great many Bishops, Priests and Religious, as well as the prayers and efforts of legionaries, the Legion, by the grace of God, has grown into a worldwide organization with several million members.
The first meeting will be Thursday, July 3 at 10:30am in the Mt. Carmel Room.
What is it? It’s a special opportunity for you to pray for vocations, You are given a Chalice for two weeks, along with specific prayers. Place it in a prominent place in your home. It’s a wonderful visual as you pray. You don’t need a group of people. Your prayers are needed to ask God to grant us more priest, religious and lay ministers.
REMEMBER: NO PRIEST - NO EUCHARIST
You will be presented the Chalice at the end of Mass or in private. If you are not able to get to church, it can be taken to you. Call Rachel Ruby at 623-972-1051. She will call you back to answer questions or to schedule you to receie the Chalice.
